Our story

Norkor grew up in Accra, Ghana, trained as a registered nurse and made Finland her second home in 2010. She fell in love with its calm design, natural textures and meaningful way of living while never letting go of Ghana.
The spark for Nokupa came from the women she saw carrying loads on their heads in Accra's markets. Many had travelled from northern Ghana, leaving behind generations of weaving knowledge just to survive in the city.
She saw something the world was missing.
Nokupa was created to bring that craft back, connecting the hands that weave in Ghana with the homes that value beauty, purpose and honesty in Finland and beyond.
Every basket you bring home carries that story. Made by women artisans. Rooted in tradition. Designed for Nordic living.

Mission

To empower Rural Ghanaian artisans and bring sustainable, handcrafted beauty into conscious homes in Finland and other parts of Europe.

Vision

To become a recognized ethical décor brand that places artisan women at the heart of everything we do, honoring their craftsmanship, preserving their cultural heritage, and creating lasting opportunities for their families and communities.

Values

Rooted belonging, slow living, and authenticity come alive in Nokupa through meaningful design, handmade craftsmanship, and a commitment to giving fairly, shaping every piece we create and every partnership we nurture.

Featured products

Weaving as an art, has been in existence for centuries. Women in rural Ghana and Kenya still use these techniques today to make bags and baskets for the modern day woman. However, their livelihood is not greatly impacted because mass production is not possible and public awareness of this craft is limited. At Nokupa, we aim to change this narrative and help bring awareness of this beautiful work.

Materials used for weaving baskets

Elephant grass is the foundation of every handwoven Bolga basket, making it a key material in sustainable, eco-friendly baskets from Ghana. Grown abundantly in northern Ghana, this natural fiber is known for its exceptional strength, flexibility, and durability, perfect for creating long-lasting, handmade storage baskets and home décor.
